The Spiral Sequence is an alternative metal solo project by James O’Toole, a musician, songwriter and producer from Melbourne, Australia.

If you’re tired of metal albums where every song sounds the same, this may be the band for you! Influenced by the likes of Tool, Iron Maiden, Killing Joke, Paradise Lost and Dead Can Dance, The Spiral Sequence combines metal, rock, alternative, acoustic and experimental sounds in a diverse mix, where every song has something different to offer.

The debut album Through Shadow Into Light is now available, including the epic gothic doom metal of Blood And Ashes, pounding attack of Nibiru and The Rage, driving melodic guitars of If, anthemic strains of Transcendency and the acoustic lament World Torn Apart.

Three instrumental singles are also available in digital form only: The Oracles’s Sorrow, What The Desert Shadows Foretold and Haunted, fusing middle eastern influences with ambient and experimental instrumentation. These present another side to The Spiral Sequence, exploring different soundscapes. More ambient / experimental singles will be released at regular intervals.

There’s a lot more music on the way – some of it will be heavy, some atmospheric, some combining varying proportions of both, but all of it will be original and challenging.

The Spiral Sequence has no limits and no rules. Expect the unexpected!
